End of Pier Ride 27th July 2008 Firstly I would like to thank all of the people that turned up for my first ride as Road Captain on Sunday. I would also like to thank the "Road Crew" who once again performed their duties excellently. On a fantastically sunny day approximately 45 bikes set off from Warr's Mottingham for a ride to the sunny seaside resort of Southend on Sea. Having negotiated the end of the south circular and the A2 we made our way via the M25 to the Dartford tunnel. The toll booth operators could not have been more helpful by keeping the barrier lifted so we could all ride through without interruption. The sound of 45 Harley Davidson motorcycles going through the tunnel was something to be heard. A uneventful ride along the A13 followed. After a short re-group at Leigh on Sea we rode en mass into Southend getting admirering looks from the day trippers and holiday makers. The ride then finished in the main car park at the rear of the seafront where people dispersed to do their own thing. Once again a big thank you to all who attended.
