On Friday 16th October Harley-Davidson announced it's decision to stop production of Buell motorcycles. Warr's have been selling, servicing and racing Buell bikes ever since John Warr first met Erik Buell back in 1983 whilst he was on a H-D service training course in Milwaukee. The two like minded riders formed a friendship that has spanned the decades and resulted in some great motorcycling adventures.
Those adventures included campaigning the first Buell, an XR1000 engined RR1000, to win a road race outside the US at Croix en Ternois in France in 1989 and more recently the Buell Factory backed Warr's Racing Team that with ex GP racer Jeremy McWilliams in the saddle took the mighty XBRR to podium finishes during the course of the US Formula Extreme race series in 2006.
'My finest Buell memory will be of Jezza McWilliams thundering around Daytona in the classic 200 race. Jezza was up there keeping close company with race leaders Bostrom and Duhamel. Erik was bouncing around like a kid as the XBRR kept posting amazing lap times. It was a day I'll never forget'
Warr's Harley-Davidson will continue to be a Buell dealer, honouring warranty, service and parts for years to come. We still have a few new Buells in stock and welcome biking enthusiats who want to make one of the last Buells ever made their own.
Thanks for the ride Erik, here's to you!
