What a fantastic day out for the Meridian Chapter on our Tommy Gun Run from Greenwich Park to Dover!
Led by our expert Road Captain Bill Delieu, with Steve Uffindell- the last man, making sure nobody was left behind. Over 30 bikes gathered in Greenwich Park for the 9:30am rider safety briefing. Even that early, the day was already shaping up to be a scorcher.
After the traditional pre-ride “prayer,” we rolled out heading south towards Kent. The route took us past the iconic Brands Hatch before continuing along the A20 towards Maidstone and onto the M20. With the heatwave drawing crowds to the coast, the roads were busy, but spirits remained high throughout the ride.
Following a quick comfort stop, we pushed further south towards Canterbury before joining the A2 into Dover. Seeing the Port of Dover with ferries departing against the backdrop of the sparkling coastline never fails to bring back memories of adventures abroad — and today was no exception. Riding down the hill towards the harbour with the sea in full sunshine was simply breathtaking.
Our destination for the day was the historic The Citadel located on the Western Heights. Although the venue itself is currently closed, the cosy café nearby and its huge car park proved the perfect stop for our group. By the time we arrived, temperatures were touching 30°C, and with the stunning Dover coastline glowing in the sunshine, you could almost feel the summer adventures calling.
Overall, another fantastic day out for the Meridian Chapter, with great roads, great weather, and even better company. Huge thanks to the Road Crew, members of Meridian Chapter and also to members of Cfhog Chapter, always good to see you riding with us. Everyone who joined us made the day so memorable. Until the next adventure — ride safe!
